SUBMITTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Submittals are required to be digital and in a PC format. All images are to be submitted as JPG files in a PowerPoint presentation on a CD. The PowerPoint file size for each project submitted must not exceed 20 MB. A maximum of 20 PowerPoint slides showing exterior and interior views of the project, project budget (NOT shared with anyone except judges), site context, site plan(s) and floor plan(s) are required. Written approval to publicize photos included must be acquired beforehand and included with the submittal. No identification of the architect may be included on any part of the submittal, except the identification sheet. If this information is found on any of the PowerPoint slides, the submittal will be disqualified.. The sponsors of the Jeff Harnar Award will make every effort to protect submission CDs, but is not responsible for loss or damage. A sealed envelope packet containing the Project Identification Form shall be included with the submittal. This year, we are also asking each submittal to include one poster size display board; the winner’s will be used at the Award ceremony.  Judges will visit competition finalists as part the judging process in ’08. 

CD submittals must utilize the following PowerPoint format:

 §         Each project submitted must have a separate PowerPoint file. Multiple entries may be compiled on one CD.

 §         Slide 1 is the Project Title Slide. This must be the first slide of each presentation and MUST contain the following information:

- Project name

- Location

- Completion date

- Gross building area- Client provided budget parameters (This information will only be shared with the judges.)

 §         Slide 2 is the Concept Statement. The must be the second slide of each presentation and shall contain a concept statement about the project limited to 500 words.

§           Please keep in mind the Concept Statement will attempt to help the judges evaluate “How well the project addresses the client’s needs”.  

§         Provide a minimum of ten (10) and a maximum of twenty (20) PowerPoint slides.  

§         Utilize low to medium resolution JPG images only.

 §         More than one image may be placed on each slide if desired.

 §         Each PowerPoint slide should contain a brief statement that describes the image in relationship to the design concept. Be concise and use Arial font only.

 In the submittal envelope, please also include written permission to use the photographs of the project.

 Each submittal should include a display board of the project. The display board of the winning project will be exhibited at the awards ceremony and throughout Design Week. The display shall be mounted on foamcore board panels and can be either vertical or horizontal orientation. Panels will be mounted using hook and loop fasteners (Velcro) or other concealed fasteners.

 The display boards shall include the site plan, floor plan(s) and one or more exterior elevations, or sections shown legibly and accurately at scale, with numerical and graphic indication of scale. For ease of viewing, floor plans shall be at a scale of not less than 1/32” equals 1 foot. Lettering should be large enough for viewing.

 Descriptive data on the face of the panels should include the following:  

•        Name and location of project

•        Design Team – name of architect, major consultants, general contractor or construction manager and any other appropriate credits

•        Name of owner

•        Occupancy date

•        Project Size—site size and gross building area
